I am Di Wu 吳迪, a first-year Ph. D.  student in Computer Science at Northwestern University, advised by Professor Nivedita Arora at the VAK Lab. I have broad interests in sustainable computing materials, digital fabrication, and smart wearables in the domain of Human-Computer Interaction.

Before joining Northwestern, I earned my Master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University, where I conducted research in the Morphing Matter Lab within the Human-Computer Interaction Institute, under the guidance of Prof. Lining Yao.

I come from an architectural background, having received my B.Arch from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, and I spent time as an exchange student at the University of California, Berkeley during my undergraduate studies.

After school, I am a big fan of roasting coffee beans and customizing coffee machines.

RESEARCH ASPIRATION

I am passionate about research that bridges fundamental knowledge with real-world impact.

Guided by a strong belief in transdisciplinary innovation and collaboration with my VAK lab peers, I thrive at the intersections of diverse fields to create technology that is both groundbreaking and responsible. My unique background in architecture, human-computer interaction, and engineering shapes my approach to seamlessly integrating design and technology.

Through research, community engagement, and real-world prototyping, I am committed to developing solutions that not only push the boundaries of technology but also contribute to a sustainable and equitable future.
